Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) is a project of the Government of Maharashta that provides businesses with infrastructure such as land (open plot or built-up spaces), roads, water supply, drainage facilities and street lights. The organization serves as a nodal agency in catering to the needs of the industry and is responsible for the industrial infrastructure and supply within its area.

CHALLENGE

MIDC zone in Jejuri was suffering acute water shortage due to scarce rains in the area. The dam at Walha, which served as the main source of water for the industrial zone had dried up. The corporation had drawn a plan to lift water from the Veer dam located 20 kms away. But even the Veer reservoir had little water left and that too in sparse patches spread across a vast area. The main challenge was to get power for the heavy duty pumps in the middle of the reservoir. While using DGs was obvious, the remote location posed several problems in stores, transportation, security which made installation, monitoring and re-fuelling an uphill task.

APPROACH

The Omkar Engineering team assessed the situation and suggested a set of DGs on Hire to power the pumps. The team also included provisions for adequate back-up power to ensure uninterrupted supply.

SOLUTION

In our signature style, we took total responsibility – from complete installation to the remotest locations, end-to-end operations, re-fuelling and maintenance of the DGs, along with all the labour, spares and fuel supplies.

The generators were used for supplying power to Pumps used for lifting the water from "Veer" Dam to "Walha" reservoir and then from "walha" to Jejuri MIDC. With a dedicated team stationed at the location, we ensured consistent power supply to the pumps, through timely supply of Genset spares, fuel, lubricants etc. to keep the DGs functional at rated load.
